I have a lace leaf maple tree that has grown through the bottom of the planter of origin. How much root sav
I want to move this tree and to see dug roots on the finger size. How these roots do I need so I can replant it in another container without kill?
Cut or break the original container - Do not cut one of the taproots - POT, with a bigger pot than necessary. Pack the bottom and sides around the maple soil enriched with new ones. Is it a bonsai? If yes, you can safely prune all taken root root and the base of the mound of "dwarf" tree - potted again in the original container and packaging in the unfertilized soil!
